The Senators have put together a nice run, winning five games in a row before losing a heartbreaker, 3-2, to the Wild in a game they dominated in every aspect except the final score. The Sens outshot the Wild 32-to-20, but the game was tied 2-2 with 13:04 to play before Vinni Lettieri scored the game-winning goal for the Wild. While disappointing, that one loss should not deter the Sens from bringing their best effort here, as they did in wins over Winnipeg, Chicago, Buffalo, Edmonton, and New Jersey.

The Panthers continue to freefall after losing their second game in a row, fourth of their last five, and eighth of their last 10. The latest defeat was a 5-3 decision in Montreal on Tuesday night, which came on the heels of their loss to Toronto (6-4) on Monday night. The Panthers have played a ton of hockey across this brutal stretch, and this will be their ninth game in 15 days going back to their 3-0 loss to Nashville on March 21. If you’re looking for a cherry on top of the sundae here, the Cats also play a huge game in Boston on Saturday afternoon, where first place in the Atlantic Division hangs in the balance. Florida needs this stopover in Ottawa like they need a hole in the head, and we expect an effort to match that sentiment.
