4:07 PM EST. OT included. The Rangers are in the driver's seat for the President’s Trophy for most points in the NHL. The Rags have won four straight games, and they have clinched a playoff spot. Last time out, New York played an overtime thriller in Colorado in which they came back to beat the Avalanche 3-2 in the shootout. That extra-time affair was actually the Rags' third such contest after they also went to overtime with the Flyers (Win, 6-5) and a shootout with Florida (Win, 4-3). Those wins are nice and they’ll help the Rangers get to where they want to be, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Rags were badly outshot by both Colorado (40-to-25) and Philly (42-to-27).

Meanwhile, the Coyotes are doing their best to fulfill the role of spoiler, as they finally cut the Predators' 18-game point streak with an 8-4 win on Thursday night. That was the ‘Yotes' second win in a row and their third win in their last four games. The Coyotes are playing loose with no pressure, as the playoffs are a pipe dream again this season, but that doesn’t mean they are going to just throw in the towel. Hockey players are a different breed and this is the time of the year that those teams at the bottom of the standings do most of their damage. The ‘Yotes can’t wait to get to the rink today, and they figure to be a tough out again this afternoon taking back an inflated price against an overvalued invader.
