New Jersey -1½ +145 over Ottawa

7:07 PM EST. Regulation only. The Devils are mired in a slump in which they have won just four of their last 11 games; however, they have strung together back-to-back wins over Pittsburgh and Winnipeg, with their 4-1 victory over the Jets coming on Thursday night. That said, the Devils are not why we are here, as we are once again going to set our sights on a Senators side that is on a brutal stretch of their schedule.

Coming into tonight, the Sens have had to travel after 14 straight games. Going back to their 4-3 shootout win over Vegas on February 24, the Senators have gone from Ottawa to Washington, Nashville, back home to Ottawa, over to Philadelphia, then to Anaheim, Los Angeles, and San Jose, returning to Ottawa, then heading out to Carolina, back to Ottawa, and then finally here to New Jersey. It has been a month of hell for the Sens, who are just before coming home for one game versus the Penguins and then heading back out to Columbus, Long Island, and then back to Ottawa for their 7-2 drubbing by the mighty Carolina Hurricanes.

That is a 14-game stretch in which Ottawa has won four games, and each one of those came in either overtime or the shootout. Had a bounce or two gone the other way, the Sens might be on a month-long 0-14 run. If the Senators can muster the effort necessary to keep this game in range, so be it, but the basement-dwelling Sens figure to be running on fumes as they play out the string on another disappointing season.
