8:05 PM EST. OT included. You would be hard pressed right now to find a team that is getting more market love right now than the Nashville Predators or whose stock is higher. Nashville has won 10 straight games to solidify its playoff position with everything going just peachy right now. While we take nothing away from the Preds, we love this vulnerable spot they’re in and no matter how good you think you are, winning 10 straight in this league is such a difficult thing to do because of all the luck involved. That luck involves not running into a hot goaltender, winning 50/50 games in OT or winning one-goal games, which is also a 50/50 proposition. Here is where it gets interesting though. The Preds have played eight straight games against rivals from the Western Conference in San Jose, St. Louis, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver, Colorado, Dallas and Anaheim. They’ll now play an isolated game against an Eastern team that they rarely see before getting right back at it against three more teams from the West beginning with Winnipeg again on Tuesday. If there was ever a time for a complacent team to take a breather and exhale, this would be it. If you include empty netters with a one-goal lead as a one-goal victory then six of Nashville’s 10 victories during this 10-game winning streak have been by one-goal with two of those going to OT. Yes, they’re playing well but they are not invincible.

Very simply, the Devils are too good to be taking back prices like this. The Devils have just one win in their past five games, which once again goes to the market putting too much emphasis on wins and losses. New Jersey has dominated more than Nashville has. In its 3-2 loss to Winnipeg on Thursday, the Devils outshot Winnipeg 43-24 and held a massive 61-40 Corsi edge. In a 3-2 loss to Vegas it was much of the same story and it could be repeated again when the Devils absolutely dominated the Wild and lost 4-2. The Devils embark on a six-game trip starting with this one that could very well define their season. They are the final Wild Card team right now we’re very likely going to get everything they have for this one. The Devils performances on the ice have been outstanding for weeks without the results and because the market mostly only sees wins and losses we get New Jersey at a hugely inflated price here. Pencil us in for that.
