8:05 PM EST. OT included. The Avalanche are 4-4 over their last eight games and 4-6 over their last 10 games but five of those six losses over that span were by a single goal. In that respect, we could just as easily be discussing a very warm Colorado squad right now. Gabriele Landeskog’s suspension also decreases the Avs stock a little bit but that’s not going to deter us from getting behind this very live pup. Colorado’s first line with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and whoever else has been creating all season with or without Landeskog. The Avs newly constructed second line of Tyson Jost, Alexander Kerfoot and JT Compher are quick, talented and dangerous and look better with each passing shift. The Avs defensemen are contributing offensively also. Colorado has been one of the better home teams this season and we’ll look for that to continue here, as this wager is a strong situational fade on the Dallas Stars.

If we’re fading the Blackhawks for the reasons listed in that analysis, we must do the same to the Stars. Dallas will be playing its fourth game in six nights, its third game in four night and tail-end of back-to-backs after exhilarating back-to-back OT victories over its biggest rival, the Chicago Blackhawks. Dallas started this four games in six nights in Las Vegas then flew to Chicago before flying back home for last night’s game. They’ll now have to play in Colorado again for the second time since November 22, which was also the tail end of back-to-backs after the Stars defeated Montreal 3-1 the previous night on November 21. Incidentally, Dallas lost that November 22 game in Colorado, 3-0 and a similar fate likely awaits them here.
