3:30 PM EST. In the five combined games these two teams have played thus far in the Big 10 Tournament, four of them have gone over the posted total, including both yesterday’s matchups. Illinois beat Nebraska 97-87 in a game that sailed well over a total pegged at 154, while Wisconsin outlasted Purdue 76-75 in a contest that had a posted total of just 141.

On Friday, Illinois and Ohio State combined to go over their posted total of 154, in a 77-74 final, while Wisconsin and Maryland went over their opening game total of 131 in a game the Badgers would win 87-56. In their final meeting of the regular season, Wisconsin and Illinois played a game in Madison in which the Illini won 91-83. The posted total in that game was just 151. Despite all of that, the total posted today is just 148. How can that be? This is the final game of the day, and it is being broadcast to the masses on CBS.

In a market that has a propensity to bet overs, this stands out as a very beatable number on the surface. However, a tournament final is not like the regular season, nor is it like a quarter or semifinal game. Everything is on the line, and every possession becomes that much more valuable. If the Illini and Badgers play a high-tempo game, so be it, but it is far more likely that this turns into a grind. Even if it doesn’t, there are so many variables at play here that can steer us to the pay window to cash this under.
