Marist +170 over Quinnipiac

Streaming: ESPN+

7:00 PM EST. The Bobcats of Quinnipiac control their own destiny as they sit a full game up on both Fairfield and Saint Peter's in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). With two games to play, all the Bobcats have to do is win out, which would include taking out fourth-place Marist tonight and second-place Saint Peter’s on Saturday.

Before we get there, let’s discuss how the Bobcats got here, which has to include an analysis of their very weak non-conference schedule, which ranked just 348 of 362 teams in the nation. Many of their 21 wins this season have come against weak competition, including Coast Guard (238), Central Connecticut (257), Army (345), UAlbany (252), Stonehill (358), Niagara (267), Navy (322), Holy Cross (348), Lafayette (313), Manhattan (347), Siena (359), Mount St. Mary’s (231), and Canisius (273). Although they have won two straight, prior to that, the Cougars lost four in a row, which includes Mount Saint Mary’s, Niagara, Fairfield, and Rider.

With that potential winner-takes-all game with Saint Peter’s on deck, is it unreasonable to suggest that the Bobcats could be caught looking ahead here? Not only that, it is not as if Marist has nothing to play for, as the Red Foxes are in the hunt for a bye to the MAAC quarterfinals, as that conference rewards the top five teams in the regular season standings with a bye in the first round. Marist is 11-7 in the MAAC, which puts the Red Foxes a half-game up on Rider and a full game up on Niagara while also chasing St. Peters and Fairfield for second by one game. Take the points here if you like, but we are going to go for the kill and take the Red Foxes to win this one outright.
