Notre Dame +6 over Wake Forest

9:00 PM EST. Forget the Irish of Notre Dame here; this is strictly a situation play to fade Wake Forest after the Demon Deacons posted their biggest win of the year on Saturday. That said, the Irish fought hard on the road against Syracuse on Saturday, where they nearly overcame a 29-point deficit but came up just short in an 88-55 loss to the Orange. That loss halted a three-game winning streak for Notre Dame that included wins over Virginia Tech (55), Georgia Tech (140), and Louisville (190).

The narrative from the talking heads in the aftermath of Wake Forest’s 83-79 home win over Duke on Saturday is that the Demon Deacons have likely punched their ticket to The Big Dance with that signature win. It was the Deacs’ second win in a row and the second time in a week that they made good on an early-season loss to an ACC team they had previously lost to, with their other win coming over Pitt in a 91-58 drubbing of the Panthers.

While Wake Forest might be feeling good about its NCAA Tournament prospects, there is potential for them to stumble down the stretch in games against the bottom of the conference coming up. It’s one thing to get jacked up for a game with Duke and your season on the line, and it’s quite another to get up for Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech, who all have losing ACC records. Spotting road points in a tough Power Six conference is also not typically a wager that is conducive to long-term profits. The price and the potential for a letdown here add up to some tremendous value on the Irish, and we are not going to pass up the inflated points being offered to us.
