Semifinals of A-10 Conference Tournament - Capital One Arena - Washington D.C.

3:30 PM EST. This one is interesting, as Davidson’s only path to the Main Event will be by winning this A-10 tournament and earning an automatic bid. There is no question that the Wildcats are on the outside looking in. Although Davidson is very good, its 19-11 overall record will preclude them from being considered, especially when money-makers like Louisville and Oklahoma are on the bubble. The Selection Committee insists they take everything into consideration, which is pure bullshit, as they take money into consideration first and everything else second. If Davidson was named Oklahoma and had Trae Young, they would be on the bubble too.

Joe Lunardi insists that the Bonnies are in and has them as a #9 seed. Lunardi is usually right because he works for ESPN, which has a huge contract with the NCAA and there is an absolute major connection there that influences who gets in and who doesn’t but the Bonnies are in no way complacent. They could get snubbed (someone will) and they’re simply too good to leave it up to chance.

What we like is that the Wildcats were an eight-point fav over the Billikens last night and blew that number away almost instantly. The Wildcats led 41-23 at the half and the Billikens could get any closer. That resounding win by Davidson combined with their desperation mindset makes them somewhat appealing here against a team they beat by 10 points earlier this season.

For all you bracket enthusiasts, keep the Bonnies to yourself and keep them at the front of your mind. Mark Schmidt's team might not win the Atlantic 10 Tournament but Lunardi likes the Bonnies' chances to make the field of 68 and be seeded low enough to qualify as a true giant killer. The defense is adept at forcing turnovers, and Schmidt's starting backcourt of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley holds the added distinction of doubling as the preseason All-Atlantic 10 first team's guard duo. The Bonnies low-turnover backcourt, offensive-rebounding frontcourt and all-around team defense are what giant killers are made of. St. Bonaventure is a beast but the market has not caught up to them yet. We’ll attempt to take advantage of that market inefficiency.
