Cincinnati -1½ over Baltimore

4:10 PM EST. Nick Lodolo is an ace in the making, but he’s not yet priced at his talent level. Lodolo had racked up double-digit punchouts in two of his first four turns of the season, and those whiffs are backed by an impressive 32% K% supported by an equally impressive 17.2% swing-and-miss rate, which has helped him post a 2.66 xERA so far. In his last turn against the Padres on Monday, Lodolo limited the Friars to one run and one hit while striking out 11 in 7 IP. Lodolo has now given up one or no runs in three of his four starts, and his 0.88 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB ratio over 24 innings are All-Star material.

We are going to continue to fade Dean Kremer until he is no longer in Baltimore’s rotation, which could come any day now. Kremer is going to get trotted out today at Great American Ballpark, which is not going to do him any favors, as he’s giving up so many home runs that dude must have whiplash from watching those balls fly over the fence. Kremer has given up eight home runs this year, which is tied for third-most in all of MLB, and his surface ERA, while serviceable at 4.19, is backed by an inflated xERA of 5.70, and a Batting Average of Balls in Play is in his favor at .209. However, in a hitter's park like GAB, the O’s defense may not have the room to bail him out here.
