Cincinnati -105 over San Diego

9:40 PM EST. The Padres cannot get out of their own way at the moment, as they’ve dropped four straight games and are just 6-11 at home at Petco Park. The Friars were just swept by the Phillies, and now they will send Matt Waldron (RHP - SD) out to stop the bleeding. Waldron is a knuckleball specialist who is coming off a win last Wednesday, but that it came against the lowly Rockies leaves little to discuss. As for the Padres' bats, they pull a tough assignment as they face Nick Lodolo (LHP - CIN). Versus lefties, the Friars rank just 27th in average, 20th in on-base percentage, and 20th in slugging percentage.

Lodolo labored through an injury-plagued 2023 that saw the former 7th overall pick shut down after just seven starts last season when it was revealed he had a stress reaction in his tibia. Lodolo was placed on the 60-day IL, but it was soon reported that he was going to miss the entire season with that leg injury. Lodolo got a late start here in 2024, but he’s now made three starts and posted some very nice numbers both on the surface and under the hood. In 17 IP, Lodolo has 20 Ks and just 4 BBs, while also bringing a dominant 15.2% swing and miss rate. As good as Lodolo has been, it could be argued that he has been unlucky as well, with a high Batting Average of Balls in Play of .326. Lodolo is one of the best young pitchers in baseball this is not a 50/50 proposition. Advantage Reds.
