Allan Winans to Record the Win +155

12:20 PM EST. This pitching matchup was supposed to take place last night, but that game was postponed and rescheduled for September 26, as the league was not willing to take a chance of a significant delay with this afternoon's "getaway-day" game already on the schedule. That move pushed back the start for Jose Quintana (LHP - NYM), who did not factor into the decision in his last start against the Reds in which he gave up five hits and four walks in 5.2 innings. Despite the Reds putting runners on base with relative ease, they could not get them home, which is why Quintana gave up just one earned run in that game despite the poor pitching. Quintana is playing with fire already as dude has just eight strikeouts to six walks in 10.1 IP. He has been very lucky so far with a strand rate of 98.6%, but that is not sustainable and eventually, those base runners are going to come home to roost.

The Braves will send out Allan Winans for his first start of the season in the bigs, as he was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday after ace Spencer Strider was placed on the IL. This is not Winans' first turn in the majors, as he started six games last season for the Braves where he posted an xERA of 3.97 with 34 punchouts and just eight walks in 32.1 innings pitched. As for Winans' durability and his ability to pitch deep into this game, the Braves brought him in to eat up innings, and he’ll be given the opportunity to do so. In his six starts last year, Winans went over five innings four times, and the two times he didn’t he pitched 4.1 innings. In his one start at Gwinnett, Winans pitched 5.2 innings and struck out five. The Braves are a -180 favorite today, and if they win, it’s very likely that Winans is going to be in line for the win.
