6:40 PM EST. Hunter Greene (RHP - CIN) will take the bump for his third start of the season after he did not factor in the decision versus the Mets, although he did go six innings where he struck out six. It wasn’t Greene’s fault the Reds didn’t pick up the win that day, as the Mets scored three runs on four hits while the Reds could only plate two runs on seven hits. Greene brings a 98.3 MPH fastball with him to the mound, but he also added a curveball and a splitter in the offseason, which has him on our radar as a pitcher who has the potential to go from good to great in a hurry. So far in 2024, Greene sports a tidy xERA of 2.47, and he’s missing bats with an elite swing-and-miss rate of 13.6%.

Last season Wade Miley (LHP - MIL) landed on the DL not once but twice (lat, shoulder), yet somehow posted a third straight sub-3.40 ERA despite a third straight season of skills that were far below average. Miley’s season was held together with extreme hit%/strand% fortune, as his swing and miss rate sunk to career lows. He had a brutal dominant start/disaster split and lost his ground ball tilt. At 37, expect that ratio inflation is coming…for real this time. Miley makes his first start of the season tonight after a three-inning rehab start for Triple-A Nashville last Friday. Dude is in our sights, and we are going for the kill.
