Dylan Cease to Record the Win +160

6:40 PM EST. The Cubs will go with Kyle Hendricks (RHP - CHC), who has struggled in the early going, as he’s allowed 10 runs on 17 hits in two starts that have spanned just 7.2 innings. In his last turn against the Dodgers, Hendricks gave up five runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings, but he did not factor in the decision. Hendricks is a pitcher we have targeted as a fade for years, and at 34, there is no reason not to continue to attack his diminishing skills.

We backed Dylan Cease (RHP - SD) to get the win in his last start against the Giants last Friday night, and although we ripped up that ticket, we will not be deterred from coming right back on him today after he put in a solid effort in that game, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings where he struck out seven. Furthermore, Cease threw 64 of his 102 pitches for strikes with 30 of those being called or swinging strikes. Through his first 10.2 innings, Cease sports a 3.38 ERA, but his xERA is even better at 2.73. We have little worry about Cease going at least five innings, as he is a workhorse who started 32 games last season and went at least 5.0 IP 26 times, and he pitched less than four innings just once.
