Pittsburgh +100 over Baltimore

1:35 PM EST. The Pirates will send Marco Gonzales (LHP - PIT) as he is coming off a no-decision against the Nationals in which he gave up one run on four hits over five innings pitched. In his first start for his new team after coming over from Seattle in the offseason, Gonzales saw an uptick in his fastball velocity, dealing it at its peak 2018 levels. Although the sample size is limited (96 AB), the O’s have struggled versus lefties this season, hitting just .188, which ranks 27th in the majors in that department.

Dean Kremer (RHP - BAL) did not factor into the decision in his first turn of the season as the Orioles would go on to beat the Royals 6-4. Kremer gave up three runs on three hits over 5.1 innings, and while he did strike out five, he saw a 1.1 MPH dip in his fastball velocity, averaging just 93.5 MPH versus Kansas City. Kremer also benefited greatly from the defensive effort behind him in that first start, posting a Batting Average of Balls in Play (BABIP) of just .071, while also enjoying a pitcher-friendly strand rate of 83.3%. While it was just one start, Kremer is a pitcher who is on our fade list when favored (which he is again today), and there were plenty of red flags in that first start, so we are coming right after him again today. No mercy.
