9:00 PM EST. The Roughriders are coming off a bye after starting the season 1-2. The last time the Riders took the field, they easily disposed of the Tiger-Cats, 37-20, at home in Regina. Hamilton is winless this season making that lone Saskatchewan victory easy to dismiss. Backing a team coming off a bye is a popular angle in the market but this early in the season that break might do more harm than good. The Riders have only played three games this season and from what we've seen, they could use more reps than rest. On paper, the Roughies have appeal taking back double digits, especially in this league where underdogs have been cashing the majority of tickets the past two years. Furthermore, Riders quarterback and walking fossil, Kevin Glenn is completing 72.8% of his passes. However, he's only 63% for his career, so you can bet a correction is coming. Additionally, in their last two trips to Calgary since head coach Chris Jones has taken over, the Riders have lost by at least 20 points in both contests and this edition of the Riders compared to the Stamps is not that much improved, if at all. We'd like to see Saskatchewan at least compete at this venue against this team before we’d recommend them taking back less than two touchdowns.

After a loss on the road in Montreal in Week 4, these Stampeders appear to be skating on thin ice. Calgary has been the class of the league for years but a 2-1-1 start to the seasons has brought out the critics. Quarterback and reigning Most Outstanding Player, Bo Levi Mitchell, has been called out for his play but Mitchell is still completing 65% of his passes with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. It was pouring rain last week in Montreal, which was not ideal for Calgary's high powered offense. The Stamps also lost running back Jerome Messam after he was ejected, totally crippling their ground game. Unlike the Riders, the Stamps could have used the time off, as they've been dealing with a ton of injuries but they'll get some relief tonight as defensive lineman Charlatan Hughes returns to the trenches. Hughes is an impact player and was sorely missed in Calgary's last two games. On the other side of the line, guard Shane Bergman has been cleared to return to his spot on the left side.

Last week the Stamps looked like low hanging fruit, giving just four points to the Alouettes but lost outright. Calgary is just 1-3-1 against the spread and the market has taken notice. This line opened with the Stamps as -11½ point home favorites, which was by far the largest number they've been asked to cover this season. The market reacted and this line is now -10 and trending to single digits. Calgary was -10 in this spot last season and it wasn't close, as the Stamps ran away with a 35-15 victory. These home games against Saskatchewan are a big deal in Calgary. Half of the stadium will be wearing green, thus creating an atmosphere that is absent from most of the Stampeders' home games. With Calgary's loss in Montreal fresh in the minds of the market, the price here on the Stamps is cheap. The Riders benefited for sitting idle but this is not a good football team and so a motivated Stampeders’ group figures to expose all of their many flaws and win going away...again.
