N.Y. Yankees -1½ +141 over Baltimore

We’ve been fading Dean Kremer (RHP - BAL) all season, and we are not going to let up today, as he is coming off a win in which he had his best performance of the season against the Angels. Well, one 10 K start does not make an ace, and it’s far more likely today that Kremer returns to his usual form against a much more formidable Yankees lineup. Even with that two-run effort versus the Angels, Kremer’s xERA is a bloated 5.43, while his first-pitch strike rate (58.8%) and swing-and-miss rate (9.5%) are pedestrian at best.

The Yankees will answer with Nestor Cortes (LHP - NYY), who is just 1-2, but that does not tell the whole story, as he’s posted three quality starts in his last four outings, including the loss he was tagged with versus the A’s last Friday. Despite racking up just one win over his six appearances, Cortes posts an ERA of 3.50, but his xERA is even better at 2.52. Further, he sports a WHIP of just 1.00 and a gorgeous 32:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 36 innings. With a total of 9½, the oddsmakers suspect some runs will be scored tonight, and we’re suggesting all the value is on the Yankees to plate those tallies.
