Winnipeg -½ +115 over Dallas

Game 2 – Western Conference Semifinal

Canada Life Centre, Winnipeg, MB

9:30 PM ET. Regulation only. Let’s talk about the line. Game 1? Dallas was the favorite on the road. They cashed as the chalk, and now, two days later, the Jets are favored at home despite looking flat for two periods and getting beat by a guy who can’t stop scoring hat tricks. If that doesn’t raise your eyebrows, it should.

This line reeks — in the best possible way. Winnipeg didn’t play particularly well, got clipped by a historic performance from Mikko Rantanen, and still came within a bounce of tying it late. So now, instead of oddsmakers doubling down on Dallas (after they just won as a road favorite), they flip the number and hang Winnipeg as the chalk. That’s not public logic — that’s sharp logic. The books are begging for Stars money. Why?

Because this is a market overreaction. One guy — Rantanen — has carried Dallas for four straight games. He’s been absurd. But unsustainable heater aside, Winnipeg is the better team on paper, on ice, and over the course of a full season. They finished 10 points ahead of Dallas. They beat them three times in four meetings. They have Connor Hellebuyck — not Jake Oettinger — between the pipes. And they just got Mark Scheifele back.

There’s no panic in this Jets room. They know they let Game 1 slip. A sleepy two-period effort cost them, but they surged late and nearly tied it. Now they’ve seen what Dallas is throwing at them. Adjustments are coming. And they’re being priced like a team the market doesn’t believe in — again.

Think about it: if Dallas was the side, why flip the favorite? Why make the Jets chalk after a home loss, with all the money flowing in on the team with the hottest scorer in hockey?

Because the books know. They know Winnipeg is going to push pace from the opening drop. They know Hellebuyck is due for a bounce. And they know Rantanen isn’t going to keep burying three a night. We’re not biting on the noise. This is a value-driven position on a better team in a classic buy-low, sell-high setup. Winnipeg got caught flat in Game 1. That script flips here.

Here is a wager we were paid out early on that would eventually lose.

Los Angeles +145 over Edmonton

Rogers Arena - Edmonton, AB

10:00 PM ET. OT included. Let’s not sugarcoat anything: the Oilers have looked like a freight train over the past three games. The score in Game 5 flattered L.A. like a spray tan in January — pure illusion. Edmonton outshot the Kings 46-22 and had 10 on net before the Kings even blinked. Now they’re back home, up 3-2 in the series, with a chance to bury the Kings yet again. They're hitting the ice with momentum, confidence, and a rabid crowd foaming at the mouth.

Let’s take a step back. The Kings were 31-6-4 at home in the regular season — the best mark in the league. They finished ahead of Edmonton in the standings. They didn’t back into the playoffs; they earned their spot. And this is still a team that had Game 4 in the palm of their hand — up 3-1 in the third period — before coughing it up.You think they’ve just rolled over?

Darcy Kuemper just put on a clinic and stole them a shot in Game 5. And let’s not forget, this is a Kings group that has played toe-to-toe with Edmonton in three straight playoff runs. They’ve seen this movie before, and if anyone’s due to flip the script, it’s them. A win here puts all the pressure back on the Oilers for Game 7 — a place nobody wants to be, not even the team in control.

We get it: the Oilers are flashy, the public loves them, and Leon Draisaitl is apparently the modern-day Gretzky when it comes to point streaks against the Kings. But that’s exactly what makes this a phenomenal spot to buy low on L.A.

This isn’t a prediction — it’s a market read. And the market is practically yelling “beware the chalk.” We’re not just taking the Kings — we’re cheering for the panic in the crowd when Kuemper shuts the door early and Edmonton starts squeezing their sticks. Hockey’s funny like that. The better team doesn’t always win. And if you give us nearly 2-to-1 on a team with nothing to lose, desperate to save its season, and capable of doing so? We’re pulling the trigger.
