The Canadiens return home from a six-game road trip where they posted an impressive 4-2 record, including a gutsy 2-1 shootout win against the Avalanche on Saturday night as well as wins over Vegas, Tampa Bay and a 4-0 shutout of the defending Cup champs in Florida. The Habs have now won seven of their last nine games and are playing their best hockey of the season. Rookie goaltender Jakob Dobes has been sensational in his first two NHL starts, stopping 56 of 57 shots, including a 34-save shutout against Florida.

On the flip side, the Vancouver Canucks limp into Montreal to begin a five-game road trip. While their road record looks good at 11-4-2, Vancouver has been sputtering. The Canucks are just 4-9 over their last 13 games, scoring a meager 32 goals in that span. Their inability to generate consistent offense has been glaring, and Friday’s 3-0 shutout loss to Nashville underscores their struggles. Furthermore, there is all of the off-ice drama in Vancouver revolves around JT Miller and Elias Peterson and the rumors that one or both of them may be traded. The Canucks are a mess at the moment and it starts in the locker room.
