The Red Wings carried a 4-1 lead into the third period before hanging on for dear life against the Capitals. While the box score shows a win, the Red Wings were outshot 40-24 and spent most of the game chasing the puck.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has quietly gone 10-4-1 since late November, with their power play firing on all cylinders. Pittsburgh also holds a psychological edge in this matchup, having already beaten Detroit 6-3 earlier this season. While Detroit did manage a 3-2 overtime win in the second meeting, it was a game Pittsburgh controlled for long stretches.
