Buffalo over St. Louis

2:07 PM ET. OT included. Buffalo’s season has been a colossal disappointment, and that’s putting it mildly. Projected to make strides in the Eastern Conference, the Sabres instead found themselves mired in the basement, enduring a staggering 13-game winless streak that would bury most teams for good, but hockey is a funny game, and momentum can shift on a dime with Buffalo showing signs of life. The Sabres have reeled off two convincing wins, outscoring the Islanders and Blackhawks 13-3.

On the flip side, St. Louis is no juggernaut. Yes, the Blues have won back-to-back games, including a 7-4 win over Nashville, but their recent form has been inconsistent. Prior to these wins, St. Louis endured a 1-3-2 stretch and struggled mightily to score. One game doesn’t erase those issues, and this remains a flawed team that’s had trouble putting together 60-minute efforts. The Blues have been prone to defensive lapses, and their goaltending has been suspect. Jordan Binnington’s .899 save percentage this season is pedestrian, and he’s been prone to mental lapses when the pressure mounts. The Blues are still searching for consistency and remain vulnerable, especially as a favorite.
