The Canucks were a nice surprise last season after unexpectedly winning the Pacific Division and making it out of the first round of the playoffs, but this season, they carry the weight of high expectations. So far, it’s been a strong start for Vancouver as it has gone 4-1-2, picking up points in all but one game. The Canucks have won four games in a row, yet they are an underdog here to the visiting Hurricanes, who appear to be in a tough scheduling spot.

Situationally speaking, there might not be a team in a more potentially vulnerable spot than the ‘Canes, who are playing their sixth game of a 10-day road trip that has seen them go from Carolina to New Jersey, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Edmonton, Calgary, Seattle, and now Vancouver. If the Hurricanes have any gas left in the tank tonight, so be it, but they are running into a buzz saw in the Canucks that will be well-rested and chomping at the bit to get back on the ice.
