6:07 PM EST. Regulation only. The Red Wings were chasing the puck all afternoon in Buffalo, losing to the Sabres 5-3 after getting outshot 39-25. We have been fading the Dead Things this season because they are a team that had their eyes on the playoffs, but have not put together a solid 60 minutes of hockey yet, and we’re not talking about a complete game. We mean 60 minutes total! There may be a little hyperbole there, but not much, as the Red Wings now return home for the second half of a back-to-back and they draw just about the toughest team they could with the mighty Oilers coming to the Motor City.

While the Red Wings were getting their fill in Buffalo, the Oilers were patiently waiting for this game, and boy oh boy, they have got to be licking their lips. Edmonton has been a slow starter out of the gate going just 3-4-1 while winning just one of its last three games, but they took those L’s versus Stanley Cup contenders in Dallas and Carolina while whooping up on the Penguins 4-0 on Friday night. It’s only a matter of time before the Oilers explode and post a crooked number and tonight is the perfect opportunity for that to happen.
