First, situationally speaking, the Stars are coming off a big 4-1 win over the Oilers, whom they battled in the Western Conference Finals last season, with Edmonton winning and heading to play the Panthers for the Stanley Cup. Furthermore, there is a perception in the market that the Stars are one of the best teams in the league, and perhaps that will come to fruition, but thus far, they rank 20th in puck possession despite being #1 on this week’s ESPN power rankings.

The Sabres might look like the same old Sabres in the standings, as they sit at just 2-4-1, but it’s worth noting that they played a pair of games in Europe weeks ago, and since returning to North America, Buffalo is 2-3-1. Even with those early losses, the Sabres rank fifth in puck possession, seventh in expected goals for, and eighth in high-danger chances. Buffalo is loaded with talent and is playing well, but the Sabres have yet to see the fruit of that labor. Until there is a correction to the good in their record, Buffalo is going to be undervalued and under the radar. We hope to take advantage of that market inefficiency here.
