St. Louis -1½ +125 over San Jose
10:37 PM EST. Regulation only. Look, we know that the Sharks are hot garbage, at that they are the worst professional hockey team on the planet right now, but that is not the point here. The point here is that the Blues are underpriced in this spot. For some perspective, when Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, and hell, even Philadelphia played in San Jose, those teams were all spotting -210 or better and they were also spotting -1½ pucks + juice. St. Louis is not and that's wrong.
The Blues were slow starters, going just 3-4-1 and scoring a measly 15 goals in their first eight games, but since then, St. Louis has been buzzing, winning five of six games and outscoring the opposition to the tune of 27-12. The Blue Notes have a loaded roster, but they had a major overhaul in the game planning department in the offseason, bringing in a defensive specialist to specifically coach that unit, and it appears that while it took some time to implement that new system, is bearing some fruit. Blues defenseman Tony Krug can see the improvement, "We're building some confidence. I think we're trusting our D-zone, and a lot of times when you take care of things in the D-zone, it leads to offense, and that's what you're seeing. Guys are committed to playing a full 200 feet."
That commitment has led to more scoring, and it’s the St. Louis defense that is getting in on the action, as Justin Faulk has six assists in his last six games, while Krug has six points in his last four games. There might not be a team in the NHL that is playing better than the Blues right now, but they are still underpriced, especially against a dreg like San Jose. We’ve seen the Sharks give up 10 goals twice already this season, and another crooked number would not be out of the question here against the underpriced Blues Notes.
