This is a situational play against the Stars, but backing the Canucks as an underdog on their home ice comes recommended too because there are not going to be many more games this season where that opportunity is going to present itself. The Canucks are legit, and it's not going to take too much longer for the rest of the market and the media to catch up. If the 'Nucks played out East, they'd already be the talk of the town. The Canucks are coming off a 10-1 outburst over the Sharks, but we're not going to put too much stock into that game, and in fact, we are going to ignore it, as a game like that only skews Vancouver's numbers in our favor, and instead, we are going to focus on the Canucks' opposition.

The Stars are at the end of their three-game road trip through Western Canada, which saw them go 2-0 in the province of Alberta, beating both Calgary (4-3) and Edmonton (4-3). Before we move on, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that the Stars were outshot badly by both the Oilers (49-to-27) and the Flames (47-to-30) in those victories. A closer look at the Stars' résumé shows that they have not fared well when playing top teams, as they are 0-2 against top-16 competition and 0-2 against the top-10. For the record, the Canucks are currently ranked seventh.

Furthermore, after this game tonight, the Stars head home for a big game with the Bruins on Tuesday night. A highly regarded team that is playing poorly, but getting wins is prime fade fodder, now sprinkle in a little "lookahead" spot, and you've got the cherry on top of what looks to be a potentially profitable sundae.
