Ottawa +110 over N.Y. Islanders

7:30 PM EST. OT included. The Islanders have lost three straight, and it’s not because they’ve been unlucky. New York was outshot in all three of those defeats, to the Devils (39-32), Sabres (42-25), and Avalanche (39-32), while also posting pitiful puck possession numbers in those games as well. The Islanders have spent more time chasing the puck over the last week than they’ve done anything else. The Islanders have been outscored 17-9 during that stretch and that ratio is flattering when all of the Isles' poor play is considered.

Meanwhile, the Senators have been playing well, but they are not being rewarded for their effort with back-to-back losses in games where they were the much better side. That includes their 6-4 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday night, in a game the Sens outshot the Sabres 38-23. Ottawa had 13 high-danger chances to Buffalo’s eight, but as is often the story, the discrepancy in the quality of goaltending was the difference. We are not going to drive ourselves mad trying to predict which goalies will be hot and which ones will be off their games, so instead we are going to attack a weak favorite in the Isles, who have been struggling to tie their skates, and back a Sens side that are playing some damn good hockey but aren’t getting the results. This one sets up perfectly for Ottawa to get back in the win column.
