That loss might look bad on the surface, but the Senators are playing some of their best hockey of the season, so we’re not going to put too much stock into that loss. However, it, and the five other games the Rags have lost over their last seven games, have put a stain on the Rangers. The market and the media value wins over all else, so a 2-5 run is not going to cut it. However, now that the dust has settled somewhat after all the player movement, this is truly the ultimate test for the Rangers to see how they match up or measure against the top team in the East.

Meanwhile, the Bruins are the greatest team in a generation, maybe ever, after becoming the fastest squad to rack up 100 points in a season after they won their ninth game in a row at home against Buffalo (7-1) last time out. It’s just the latest long winning streak for the B’s this season. Furthermore, the media is gushing over the trade deadline moves. From the Athletic:

In any case, the Bruins were outshot in Calgary (57-to-20), and against Seattle (41-to-33), while going shot for shot with the likes of Edmonton, Ottawa, the Islanders, and Nashville. The Bruins would win each of those games, obviously, but at what point does their bubble burst? The Bruins are not the 1976-77 Canadiens, nor are they the 84-85 Oilers. They are a product of their time, where talent is spread thin and there are 31 over teams to pound on. The B’s are not a team that will be talked about for generations, rather they are overvalued and overrated and the Rangers are just as good as they are. Let's see where the chips fall but at this price against anyone, New York is worthy.
