10:37 PM EST. OT included. We are on a journey here with the Sharks, as we plan to fade them on Patrick Marleau’s jersey retirement night on Saturday versus the Blackhawks. However, before all that pomp and circumstance, we are going to step in and back a San Jose side that is considered amongst the dregs of this league. A puny 18 wins and a perception that they are tanking for Connor Bedard do not do the Sharks' reputation any favors in a market that values wins and losses over all else. The added cherry of the Bedard lottery on top only makes the Sharks' curb appeal that much less appealing. However, we can use that misguided perception to our advantage because the Sharks that are suiting up right now don’t give a hoot about the draft lottery. We could show you an example nearly every night of the week where a team that is supposed to be garbage shows up and plays hard. San Jose did just that in a zippy 4-0 win over Seattle on Monday afternoon. The Sharks have also played well in losses to Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Florida in recent games, while also knocking off Tampa Bay and Washington. Since the All-Star break, the Sharkies have been playing really well, but they are totally off the radar.

The Predators are not considered dregs, but they should be because if this team didn’t have Jusse Saros, they would be dead last by a country mile. The Preds have been outplayed in every game they’ve played since the break, but they have three wins to show in those seven games. That includes a 4-2 loss in Arizona. Nashville has been outshot in four straight games, with their 5-4 shootout win over Vancouver on Tuesday night being the most lopsided, with the Canucks outshooting the Preds 39-to-26. All that to say, the Predators cannot be favored on the road in the Shark Tank. Let’s eat.
