NY Islanders -½ +146 over Pittsburgh

7:05 PM EST. The Penguins have won three out of their last four but so what. Those three victories occurred against Colorado (2-1) just before the break when Colorado was without several key players, Anaheim and San Jose. In between those last two wins, the Pens were buried by the Kings, 6-0. Pittsburgh returns to the East Coast tonight after three games in California but they don’t return home until tomorrow when they face the Devils in what is a much more anticipated game. It would be no surprise if the Pens were caught flat here but even if they’re not flat, they’re in very average form and have been for weeks. In fact, over their last 23 games, Pittsburgh has won back-to-back games just one time over that span. They have several notable losses over that span and not a single notable win over their last 20 games yet its stock remains high. That makes us enthusiastic sellers.

The Islanders are taking a lot of heat on social media the past few days after losing their third straight game. Those three losses occurred against Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa. Fans were outraged over a loss to Ottawa especially because the Isles couldn’t hold a lead. In any case, all three losses were by one goal. That’s bad luck. Prior, the Isles had won four in a row so they’re a bounce away in each game from being on a seven game winning streak and then the fans would be crapping in their pants in awe of how good they are. The Islanders are playing well while the Penguins are not and now the Isles are in a great spot to beat this hated rival again.
