Calgary -½ +100 over St. Louis

8:07 PM EST. Oddsmakers are fully aware of how much trouble the Blues are in, which is reflective in the price. It’s been reflective in the price for a few weeks but we’ll focus on today’s price. St. Louis is -½ +210 tonight in regulation, which would’ve been considered absolutely absurd last year or in the first three months of this year. One would have to go back far in the archives to find the Blue Notes priced like this at home.

We faded the Blues last game in Minnesota, a game the Blues would win, 3-0. Already shorthanded up front due to injury and illness before the Blues’ game, the Wild went down two more forwards in the second period. Mats Zuccarello was out for a second straight game with an upper-body injury. Jordan Greenway would be unavailable just before the game with a non-COVID illness. That left only 11 forwards in action against St. Louis, but the Wild's manpower took another hit in-game. Ryan Hartman left in the second after getting caught up high by the Blues' Robert Thomas. While he was away, Joel Eriksson Ek exited after a collision with Noel Acciari. The Wild had nine forwards and would go on to outshoot St. Louis in the third period by an incredible count of 24-3. The Blues outscored Minnesota in the third, 2-0. That’s hockey, where every team is a hot or cold goaltender away from a win or a loss but that the Blues were outshot 24-3 is a telling sign of how disengaged the Blues are on most nights.

The Blues return home tonight from a four game trip to face an elite team that rarely doesn’t bring it. The Flames will actually play here on Thursday as well so if the Flames lose here (unlikely), we’ll get it back on Thursday because they’re not dropping two straight to these frauds. We absolutely love that Calgary is coming off an unacceptable loss against the Blackhawks because a big response is in order.
