Montreal +298 over Florida
7:07 PM EST. OT Included. The Panthers are 15-16-4 but today they are priced like they’re 25-5-5. Sure, they have played better than their record suggests in terms of the quantity and quality of chances they’ve generated and allowed at even strength, but sub-par goaltending means they’re a giant risk spotting prices like this. Another reason that the Panthers are overpriced here today is because Aaron Ekblad and Aleksander Barkov are expected back in the lineup. That’s terrific, it really is but it’s not like Florida was killing it when that pair was playing. The Panthers have six wins in their past 19 games. They have dropped four in a row and have allowed 20 goals over that span but again, they’re priced like they’re winning as frequently as the Bruins. It’s absurd.
Montreal is only two games under .500 and that’s after losing six of its last seven games. The Habs four recent losses were to Colorado, Dallas and Tampa twice, which is not exactly the bottom of the barrel. Montreal played in Tampa last night and lost 4-1. This back-to-back should be of no concern because they were off since December 23rd before last night’s game. It’s also worth noting that this trip to Florida is almost like a home game for the Habs, as that region is a haven for French Canadians that spend the winters in Florida. It’s the one game a year that tickets are difficult to get because Montreal fans want to attend. The Habs will now play a Florida team that has been off for six days, thus, it’s not unreasonable to expect the Habs to have the extra jump here early until Florida gets its legs back. A definite overlay and a pretty good spot for Montreal.
