Western Conference Semifinal

Game 5

Colorado -1½ +100 over St. Louis

8:00 PM EST. OT Included. If you want to see what a playoff blowout looks like, watch this game. This series changed very early in Game 3 when Nazem Kadri collided with Jordan Binnington and knocked the Blues goaltender out of the series. The Blues were forced to use Ville Husso, who was yanked after the first two games of the Blues series win against Minnesota and the Blues haven’t looked the same since.

Ville Husso has not been able to make a key stop this entire series. He’s rattled and is playing with a massive lack of confidence. It also deflates the team when the most important player on the ice can’t be relied upon.

Then of course there is the great Nazem Kadri. The NHL has a long history of the irksome, irritating and downright annoying players who happily dwell under the skin of their opponents, but now Kadri, a more evolved breed, combines his antics with on-ice artistry—an invaluable combo during the high-stakes playoffs. He’s in the head of the Blues, as are a dozen or more other things.

The Blues are loaded with great players. We absolutely trusted they had a legit shot of beating Colorado and they did until Binnington went down. Now after back-to-back wins in St, Louis in which the Blues had a very short lived lead in both games but ended up getting outclassed, this series shifts back to Colorado and it’s not going back to St. Louis. Mentally, the Blues are beaten. Physically, St. Louis is beaten. Intangibly, the Blues are badly beaten and talent wise, they are the second best team.
