Las Vegas -2½ over Jacksonville

4:25 PM EST. On paper, this is the ugliest matchup of the week—a pair of teams combining for just five wins and 23 losses with backup quarterbacks at the helm, but don’t let the lack of star power fool you into thinking there’s no value here. Yes, the Raiders are dreadful, as their 10-game losing streak suggests. They’ve trailed by double digits in every game this season and have an injury list that would make an ER blush. Maxx Crosby, the heart and soul of the defense, is done for the year. Their offensive line is a turnstile.

Las Vegas may be limping into this one, but they still have weapons that can make a difference. Rookie tight end Brock Bowers has been a revelation, setting records for receptions by a rookie tight end and providing a consistent safety valve for whoever is under center. Whether it’s Aidan O’Connell or Desmond Ridder taking the snaps, they’ll have a legitimate target to lean on against a Jaguars defense that just allowed 400 yards to the Jets.

The Jaguars, on the other hand, are just as bad but carry the illusion of competency because they’ve been slightly less awful. Jacksonville is 1-9 in their last 10 road games, their lone win coming against a Tennessee squad that’s just as inept. With Trevor Lawrence sidelined, this offense belongs to Mac Jones, a quarterback who has already worn out his welcome in New England.

While Jones flashed some semblance of promise last week with 294 passing yards and two touchdowns, it came in a loss to a middling Jets squad that nearly gave the game away multiple times. This Jaguars team isn’t built to travel well, and they’re not exactly well-coached either. Doug Pederson’s seat is hotter than the Las Vegas Strip, and his decision-making has cost Jacksonville dearly all season. The Jags should not be getting this much respect on the road, not even against the Raiders, yet, here we are.
