N.Y. Jets +3 over L.A. Rams

1:00 PM EST. Let’s start with the Rams. Their 12-6 upset victory in San Francisco last Thursday was impressive on the surface, but the box score tells a different story. The Rams mustered just 219 total yards of offense in a game dominated by poor weather and worse execution. Yes, Matthew Stafford has been steady this season, but steady doesn’t always translate to success, especially when traveling cross-country to play an early game against a desperate team.

Stafford has been the model of consistency for the Rams, throwing for 19 touchdowns against just seven picks this year. But he’ll face a Jets defense that, while vulnerable in recent weeks, still boasts one of the league’s best pass rushes. New York ranks top 10 in pressure rate, and Stafford has historically struggled under duress. This isn’t the same Rams offensive line that kept him clean during their Super Bowl run.

The Rams’ defense has regressed significantly since midseason, ranking 18th in opponent EPA per play and success rate since Week 13. With injuries piling up in the secondary, the Rams are vulnerable to big plays through the air. Rodgers, Adams, and Garrett Wilson ought to get their bibs, because it’s time to eat.

Now, let’s talk about Aaron Rodgers. By his own admission, Rodgers is nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career, but don’t let his 41 years fool you. He’s coming off his best performance of the season, throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns in a comeback win over Jacksonville. The Rodgers-to-Davante Adams connection looked like a time machine, with Adams racking up 198 yards and two scores. Against a Rams secondary that ranks 29th in opponent yards per pass attempt, Rodgers has a golden opportunity to keep the momentum going.

The Jets’ season has been a disaster. Head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas were ousted midseason and playoff hopes evaporated by Week 8. Yet this team hasn’t quit. The Jets have played their best football recently, ranking seventh in the league in Net Yards per Play over the last three games. They’re not laying down for anyone, and with Rodgers potentially playing his final home game, you can expect a spirited effort.
