New Orleans over Atlanta

1:00 PM EST. We’ll start with the Falcons, who have played two straight prime-time games, so they are fresh in the minds of the market after that comeback win over the Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 2 and a 22-17 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.

If you told a Falcons fan before the start of the season, "You have to play the Steelers, Eagles and Chiefs the first three weeks with a new QB that's coming off an Achilles injury and you're going to go 1-2," how do you think most would respond? In our opinion, most would shrug their shoulders and say, "Okay, that sounds about right." So the result is expected, but what about the process? Let's pretend that the Eagles didn't completely bungle the last-minute scenario in Week 2, and Kirk Cousins never had the opportunity to make the 70-yard winning drive. If that scenario never has the chance to play out (which it never should have, thanks Nick Sirianni), that means the Falcons are 0-3 and have gotten outgained by an average of 50 yards per game. Two of those games were at home. They caught the Steelers with a back-up QB in Week 1 and caught the Chiefs without Isiah Pacheco in Week 3. Third downs and short-yardage situations are going to be a big problem for Atlanta this season unless offensive coordinator Zac Robinson starts thinking outside the box. Cousins can't execute a QB sneak because of his prior injury, and opposing defenses don't even have to gameplan for it. The Falcons went 2-for-9 on third down and 1-for-3 on fourth down in last week's loss to the Chiefs.

As for the Saints, they were a much-hyped team coming into Week 3, as their offense was lighting it up after the first two weeks. However, that unit went cold, losing to the Eagles, 15-12, on a last-second field goal. That was not the result New Orleans was looking for, but it is still 2-1 both straight up and against the spread (ATS), while the Falcons are 1-2 in both columns. The Saints' start over the first two weeks was impressive as they put up video game numbers before running into the Eagles. While the offense stagnated in Week 3, this one lines up perfectly for the Saints to return to their high-flying ways. It’s truly amazing how the market has jumped off the Saints bandwagon after one so-so performance against Philly but let’s not forget that the Saints should’ve won that game too and then they would be sitting at 3-0. We sold high on the Saints last week and now we’re going to switch gears and buy low or in other words, when the market jumps off, we like to jump on.
