Cincinatti -7½ over Washington

8:15 PM EST.  The underdogs are crushing these days, and it’s not like the Bengals have been world-beaters through their first two weeks. However, it’s because of those scenarios that Cincinnati is spotting deflated points here on Monday Night Football in Week 3. As for how they got here, Week 1 was a disaster for the Bengals, as they lost outright to the Patriots at home in Cincy as the biggest favorite of the week at -9½. Last week, the Bengals did cover the number (+6½), but they lost outright again to Kansas City.

As for Washington, the Commanders are 1-1, but they are getting some attention here, as Jayden Daniels leads the high-profile class of rookie QBs thus far after a decent debut in defeat to Tampa Bay, who prior to yesterday was shooting up the power rankings. In Week 2, the former Football Team took down the Giants 21-18 at home in D.C., but that was about as ugly a win as there is, with Washington failing to score a touchdown and having to settle for seven field goals to score their points. Teams that don’t score touchdowns are not supposed to win football games, but the Commanders were the exception to that rule last week.

We’ll save the X’s and O’s for the talking heads because all we need to know about this game is the line, which opened at -7½. There has been action on the Commanders, as the market has taken a bite out of that “hook” on the key number of seven. Those -7½ are “favorite” numbers because they entice the market to bet on the underdog, thinking it’s getting an “edge” on a key number (3, 7, 10). But trust us, if the sportsbooks are offering something that looks too good to be true, it probably is. The fact of the matter is this: the Bengals are spotting deflated points, and we’re going to have no problem swallowing them tonight. LFG!
