New England +6 over N.Y. Jets
8:15 PM EST. We’ll start with the Jets, who will play their third game in 10 days after beginning the season with a 32-19 Monday night loss in San Francisco, followed by a road game on a short week at Tennessee on Sunday afternoon. The Jets won that game 24-17, but it was a hard-fought, back-and-forth contest that saw three lead changes, with the Jets going up for good on a 20-yard Braelon Allen TD run with 4:31 to play. Aaron Rodgers went 18-for-30 for 176 yards and two TDs, but the Jets had fewer first downs, fewer yards of offense, and needed a +2 turnover advantage to win and cover that game. Now the Jets play a high-profile home opener in a nationally televised prime-time game that’s going to get a ton of attention and action from the market.
Because of the high-profile nature of this game and the endless supply of fodder available for consumption, there is no stone left unturned. The take on the Patriots is that they have been better than expected with a Week 1 win on the road in Cincinnati as a +9½-point underdog, followed by an overtime loss last Sunday to Seattle. However, the positive narrative on the Pats then turns negative due to the injury report.
We must stress that there are no bits of information to give anyone an edge, especially injuries. We bring this up because the status of New England’s embattled offensive line has been highlighted by the talking heads, with four members ruled out. On the defensive side, LB Oshane Ximines is out, while DE Deatrich Wise Jr. and S Jabrill Peppers are questionable. Finally, LB Ja'Whaun Bentley sustained a season-ending injury. Rarely do we focus on injuries, but we do here because this is not privileged information. Rest assured, the oddsmakers are not only aware of these injuries, but they are already factored into the line.
We typically do not get involved in these Thursday night games for a number of reasons, as there are so many outside variables that lead to them being garbage games unworthy of a wager. However, this game checks many boxes. Of course, this could be another Thursday night s**tshow, and the Patriots might just get whacked, but if that happens, so be it. We are going to take the Pats and the points and let the chips fall where they may.

That’s a 25 cent margin but at Pinnacle, it’ll be an 9 cent margin (see example)
Arizona -145
