Green Bay +2½ over Indianapolis

The Packers are playing it close to the vest regarding starting QB Jordan Love’s availability, with head coach Matt LaFleur suggesting that Love could still play despite missing practice all week. Reports indicate Love is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks with a sprained MCL, which he sustained during last week’s 34-29 loss to the Eagles in Brazil. Green Bay’s backup, newly acquired Malik Willis from the Titans, took the final snaps of that defeat and is expected to start in Love’s place.

On paper, the Colts’ Week 1 loss to the Texans, 29-27, appears close, but the game wasn’t as competitive as the score suggests. Indianapolis was dominated in nearly every key category, earning just 14 first downs to Houston’s 26, being outgained by over 100 yards, and possessing the ball for only 20 minutes compared to Houston’s 40. Despite being a home underdog last week, the Colts are now road favorites, largely due to Green Bay’s injury situation. That’s a steep adjustment that we’ll attempt to take advantage of.

This matchup is a prime example of how quickly the market reacts to any kind of news. Once the Packers hinted that Love might play, the line moved, with action coming in on Green Bay. However, oddsmakers initially set the Colts as favorites knowing Love was unlikely to suit up. Now that it’s becoming clearer, money is shifting toward Indianapolis, and that momentum will likely continue. The Packers are the play.
