Tulane +400 over Oklahoma
Memorial Stadium - Norman, OK
3:30 PM EST. Tulane dropped a 34-27 decision to Kansas last week, but they kept that game closer than the 9½-point spread, and they had a legitimate shot to win after taking a 27-20 lead in the fourth quarter. However, the Wildcats posted two unanswered TDs to steal the victory. It’s only been two games, but it looks like the Green Wave has a good one in QB Darian Mensah, who has shown he has an accurate arm and can run when needed.
Last week, Oklahoma had all it could handle with Houston in a game where the Sooners were -27½-point favorites but only won by four, 16-12. That result was fortunate, as the Cougars had more first downs (18-to-15), more offensive yards, and won the time of possession by over 10 minutes. The Sooners were shut out on offense in the second half, with a late safety by Gracen Halton being the only points they would score over the final 30 minutes.
OU’s 51-3 win over Temple in Week 1 was an extremely misleading score. Temple turned the ball over 6 times, and yet Oklahoma, who had zero turnovers, had just five more first downs and only 45 more passing yards. Temple was moving the ball on the Sooners but turned it over on almost every possession, yet all the market sees is a 51-3 final score. Of all the ranked teams in college football, Oklahoma’s #15 ranking is the most undeserving. This team is all smoke and mirrors.
To close, Oklahoma is ranked #15 and they are playing Tennessee next week, which sets up a massive look-ahead spot for the newly minted SEC school. The Sooners are going to find soon that the grass isn’t always greener. Not only that, but OU's offensive line is in shambles and their pass rush has issues, too. The conditions of this game are not conducive to the Sooners covering inflated points. In fact, they are a team in danger of losing this game. Take the points if you like, but we are going for the kill and backing the Green Wave to win outright.
