12:45 PM EST. We’re not proponents of spotting a big tag but there is a time and a place for it. Boston College steps into this game ranked as the #24 team in the country after they thrashed Florida State 28-13 in its season opener as a 16½-point underdog and followed it up with a 56-0 shelling of FCS Duquesne. Despite their acquired ranking and the respect that they have garnered from how they handled the Seminoles, the ranked Eagles opened at the same price they were at when they traveled to Tallahassee and the market has gobbled up the points with expedience and steamed the line down by two points at the time of writing. Playing the Eagles at this point would be playing them at a bad number which is a big no-no. We also have to question the big situational difference between playing Florida State in Week 1 and Mizzou in Week http://3.You see, BC is now ranked and on the radar of both the oddsmakers and the general public and yet they’re being offered a boatload of appealing points. It smells of a big trap. Would oddsmakers really be giving BC “too many points” yet again? If the old adage has any truth, we think not as the bookmakers would not be fooled again as the shame would be on them.

The Tigers come into this game the #6 team in all of America and they have yet to give up a point in two games so far this season. While the vanquished foes include FCS Murray State and Buffalo both in “COMO” (Columbia colloquially), this is nonetheless an impressive feat as the Tigers have put up 89 points offensively to complement this stellar display of defense that has extended eight quarters. What they are doing is essentially akin to a pitcher throwing a perfect game, it doesn’t matter who the batters are, to consistently blank the opposition is no easy feat. Despite this achievement, the Tigers are still flying well under the radar because they play in a conference that boasts the likes of Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss who are all ranked ahead of them and Tennessee who has been a subject of conversation with how they ransacked NC State in Charlotte. Though Missouri has the wherewithal and talent to compete with all of the aforementioned, the Tigers have nonetheless faded into the background because of who they are keeping company with in their conference.

Boston College meanwhile has reaped a lot of fanfare with the stewardship of Bill O’Brien as their Head Coach combined with their Labor Day invasion of Tallahassee that saw every man on the street fading Florida State. Not only did the market cash a ticket but they saw the Eagles win outright in dominant fashion. However, Florida State has proven that their loss is not a reflection of Georgia Tech or Boston College’s quality but instead a harrowing reminder that it takes more than namesake and using NIL to lure talent from the transfer portal to put together a team that wins and competes at the highest level.

Missouri is a testament to the concept of being a well-coached and cohesive unit that develops many of their talent from within. The fact they are spotting this quantity of points in a Top 25 match-up once again is a show of respect for how good this team actually is. The best part is we are getting them at a reduced price due to Boston College’s recent exploits and the inefficient market chompin’ at the bit to smother the Eagles.
