4:00 PM EST. Boise State is a team that needs no introduction. They are the Alabama or Ohio State of the mid-major ranks and come into every year with high expectations. The Broncos always have their eyes set on a New Year’s Six bowl game and achieving anything less than that often garners said campaign as a failure. With the expanded 12-team playoff, the Broncos’ goal is to represent the Group of Five in the bracket. There are many talking heads who believe that Boise State is readily capable of doing this. The media has a massive influence on the betting public thus, such rhetoric and hyperbole only further inflates the stock of Boise State and bolsters their asking price. Once again, the market is buying high here on the Broncos out of the chute.

The Broncos opened as a -10½ point choice in mid-summer and have since risen to the number they are spotting here. If you bet Boise here, you would be doing so at a bad number, which is one of the cardinal sins of sports wagering. Meanwhile, the Eagles are no stranger to locking horns with some of the Group of Five heavyweights. Southern has always been a perpetual thorn in the side of Appalachian State (another Group of Five blue blood) among others and have also created a heck of a lot of havoc for all of them.

The talk of the town is Broncos RB Ashton Jeanty, who could very well be a Doak Walker Finalist but few are talking about the returning trio of Eagles running backs who combined for nearly 1,500 yards on the ground in 2023. The Eagles under offensive-minded Clay Helton also boasted a top-15 passing attack last year, which they will hope to replicate with Quarterback JC French who was involved in virtually every game the Eagles participated in last season. The Eagles have the firepower to score and keep the ball away from the Broncos and we have to like that proposition again with inflated points in our back pocket. There is also a lookahead aspect for Boise State, as it will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon next week to face off with the #3 Oregon Ducks.
