7:00 PM EST. You think we like B.C? Really? You think we like B.C? We don’t. How can you? It’s impossible to like B.C. Boston College hasn’t scored a TD in the last 80 minutes of game time. The last TD they scored was in the third quarter of its lopsided loss at Wake Forest two weeks ago. The Eagles couldn’t score one of those at all last week at UConn (UConn?) and further hurt their cause with five giveaways in a display even worse for Beantown backers than the Patriots against the Bears the previous Monday. Meanwhile QB Phil Jurkovec continues to take more punishment in the pocket than George Chuvalo did in the Joe Frazier fight once upon a time at Madison Square Garden, this time knocked out of the game with a leg injury after another of the five sacks recorded by the Huskies, upping the BC count to 29 allowed and keeping company with the likes of New Mexico and Akron for the nation’s worst in a very dubious category.

As a 7½- point favorite last week over UConn, B.C. scored three points. How can a team be favored by 7½ and score three lousy points against the Huskies? We could get 10 guys from the neighborhood to suit up and give UConn a game.  Backup Emme Morehead was also under siege last week which is what happens when the OL is banged up and not very good to begin with, to which Duke’s defensive-minded new HC Mike Elko can capitalize.

Elko is having a much easier time of it than Jeff Hafley, with the Blue Devils positioned to get a bowl bid in Elko’s first season. And after facing eight Miami giveaways the last time Duke took the field on October 22, we shudder to think what sort of havoc might be wreaked against the stagnant and giveaway Eagle attack. We’re not the only one’s, as the market is eating up Duke like leftover Halloween candy.

This line opened with the Eagles taking back 9½-points. Not only is that what we call an “underdog” number, but it’s an 18-point swing in the Eagles’ price in just one week. We’ll also reiterate that we’re not in the prediction business. If we were, we would bet a pillowcase full of money that Duke will destroy B.C. but in this Friday night prime time game, the info we just gave you is not privileged. The books could have made Duke -14 and not swayed a single bet. That brings us all the way around to inflated points galore and you can bet that pillowcase full of money that the points here are indeed inflated. Plug your nose and scoop up the points.
