Despite those results, the Rams have 12 Pythagorean Wins, a stat that suggests they’re much closer to elite than their résumé might indicate. Had a few bounces gone differently, and if St. Bonaventure weren’t printing money for bettors, this line would look vastly different.

The Bonnies as home dogs might look tempting at first glance, but let’s dig deeper. VCU isn’t just good—they’re elite in key areas that neutralize what St. Bonaventure does best. The Rams lead the nation in three-point defense, rank 13th in opponent field goal percentage, and are second in assist-to-turnover ratio. Their ability to block shots (11th nationally) and avoid having their own shots blocked makes them a nightmare matchup for a Bonnies squad that thrives on rhythm and crowd energy. VCU’s disruptive defense and disciplined play are tailor-made to frustrate St. Bonaventure, and if the Rams can execute early, they’ll quiet the Reilly Center and seize control.
