Duquesne +6½ over UC Irvine

2:30 PM ET. The Dukes enter this game with a far less captivating 3-8 record compared to Irvine’s impressive 10-1 mark. Despite this disparity, the Anteaters are spotting a number that appears soft to the naked eye. UC Irvine is on an NBA-style cross-country road trip, starting with Oregon State in Corvallis last week and Belmont in Nashville two nights ago. The Anteaters overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat Belmont, scoring 67 points in the second half. Now, they face Duquesne with less than 48 hours to recover, travel 500+ miles, and cross a time zone.

The Dukes, meanwhile, are better than their record suggests. Ranked 359th in KenPom’s Luck rating, Duquesne has been snake-bitten all season. When we backed the Dukes earlier this month against Delaware, they delivered with a 14-point victory. Since then, Duquesne has suffered another close loss to Maine but rebounded to defeat Towson a week ago. With a full week of rest and preparation, Duquesne has every opportunity to exploit Irvine’s travel fatigue. The upset potential is strong, but we’ll take the points.
