Queens +7½ over Kennesaw St

7:00 PM EST. Queens opened up the ASUN Conference Tournament with a win over Florida Gulf Coast last night, and they did so after shooting a mere 20/53 from the floor. Queens also shot a brutal 55% from the charity stripe and hit just 9 of 34 three-point shots. Imagine what the score would have been had Queens shot better.

There is a perception in the market that these teams that have a game under their belts are “tired” the next day against fresh legs, but we could not disagree more. Not only are these guys playing for their seasons, but they are coming off a win with a jump in their step. Queens is playing with house money here and can’t wait to get back on the court today and take a crack at #1 Kennesaw State.

The Owls have the weight of the world on their shoulders, as they come into this ASUN tourney as the top seed. There is a very slim chance that the Owls could still get the call to go dancing if they don’t finish the job and take home the conference’s lone bid for the NCAAs. However, that is not a gamble that head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim and his team are going to want to take. It’s not like the Owls were projected to be the class of the ASUN. They were supposed to be middle of the road, but they outkicked their coverage and overperformed this season. While you may see the Owls slotted as a #15 seed for March Madness on ESPN’s Bracketology, Kennesaw State is only ranked #129 over at KenPom. All that to say—nothing is guaranteed for the Owls unless they finish their business in the ASUN. This price suggests that the Owls are going to have their hands full on their home court. No pressure, boys.
