Monmouth +3½ over William and Mary

5:00 PM EST. The Hawks of Monmouth are flying low these days after three straight losses, both straight up and Against the Spread. The Hawks are now just 6-24 on the season and 5-12 in the Colonial, which has them sitting in the basement with Hampton. Last time out, the Hawks lost to Hampton, which is not a good look. Nor were losses to Northeastern and Elon, who each just have six wins in the CAA this season. It looks bad for Monmouth, no doubt, but we must note that this team played a very difficult non-conference schedule that ranks 36th in the nation. The Hawks may have gotten handled by Seton Hall, then #18 Virginia, then #19 Illinois and Syracuse, but at least they had the stones to schedule those Power Six teams and take a swing.

William & Mary are in a tough spot here, as this is not a team that is asked to spot a number very often. The last time the Tribe were favored in a game was at the beginning of the month at Hampton, where they were 2-point chalk. The Tribe would lose that game 62-57. Prior to that, Bill and his Sister were a 4-point favorite versus Stoney Brook. The Tribe didn’t cover that spread. They also didn’t cover the 1½-points they were favored over North Carolina A&T, again losing outright, 90-86. To summarize, the Tribe are not a team you want to back when they are favored. Let’s put that hypothesis to the test here and take back the points being offered up to the Hawks.
