Xavier -1½ over Seton Hall

7:00 PM EST. The Musketeers have seen their stock drop on the back of losses in three of four games. Moreover, Xavier has dropped four of its last five games on the road, including three straight in that department. The Musketeers were ranked as high as #8, but tumbled to #13 before settling in at #16, where they have been for the last two weeks. That is where the bulk of Xavier's losing has taken place.

Last time out, the Musketeers blew a 13-point lead against Villanova, dropping a nail-biter 64-63. That is what makes the headlines, but what doesn’t is that the Musketeers turned the ball over 10 times in the second half. The Wildcats might not be what they normally are, but they’ll make you pay for treating the basketball like a dirty diaper. As we know, turnovers are luck-based. For some perspective, when Xavier built that double-digit lead, it was in a first half with just four turnovers. It’s impossible to predict who will get those breaks, which is why it’s impossible to predict the outcomes of these games.

We faded Seton Hall on Saturday, and the Pirates were able to hold on as an 11½-point pooch in a 64-55 loss to UConn. While we ripped up that ticket, we will not hesitate to come right back tonight. How can the Pirates be taking back such a significant price just six days ago, and now be a coin flip to the Musketeers, who are of comparable quality to the Huskies? When these two teams played in late December in Cincinnati, the Pirates were an 8-point underdog. See how these schools’ values have changed since then? Seton Hall is up, and Xavier is way down. We’re going to fade the overvalued Pirates and swallow this measly basket.
