Lafayette +9 over Colgate

7:00 PM EST. We faded the Raiders of Colgate on Saturday under the premise that their season is a wrap. They’ve done everything they can to ensure they’ve locked up the #1 seed for the Patriot League Tournament. The top two teams in the conference get the pleasure of playing one of the bottom four “play-in” teams, and there is no way that Navy, nor Lehigh can knock Colgate out of first place. Instead, it’s a dog fight for second.

The Raiders have just one more game to play, which is at Navy, but it, nor this one, means squat. Now, that didn’t stop Colgate from waffling Holy Cross on Saturday, but the same logic applies here as it did then. The only goal the Raiders should have at the moment is getting to the conference tournament healthy so they may have the best chance possible to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Meanwhile, Lafayette is still scraping for every inch, as the Leopards try and stop the bleeding after two straight losses to Army and Loyola-Maryland. To further tarnish the Leopards' curb appeal, they failed to cover both of those contests. With those losses, Lafayette is in a three-way tie for fifth place in the Patriot. The Leopards have two games to make sure they avoid falling into the bottom four, which would force them into the “play-in” situation we mentioned above.

Lafayette has its back against the wall. The appropriate response would be to knock off this Raiders team that should be going through the motions. It’s with that in mind that we’ll scoop up these points and hope we never need them.
