9:00 PM EST. You can count Providence amongst those ranked teams, who built their résumés on the back of the cupcake buffet. When a team schedules weak non-conference competition as the Friars did (350-of-363 ranked squads), and pads their record in the process, it allows us to target them because their standing in the media, the market and the top-25 is built on a house of cards. Ranked wins against Big East brothers Marquette and UConn resonate in the market, but until The Big Dance starts, we never really know which conferences are legit. When the Friars played Power Six schools like Miami and TCU, they lost by double digits in both games. The rest of their non-conference wins are trash, and not even worse listed. Their ranking speaks for itself.

As for the Golden Eagles, they are worthy of not only their ranking, but the price they are being asked to spot tonight. If we’re being honest, Marquette is being short changed here against an invader with a sweet tooth that has yet to be punished for its propensity to pick on the little guy. Marquette is coming off loss on Sunday to #12 Xavier, but the Musketeers are legit, too, so that four point road defeat actually furthers the Golden Eagles’ credibility as a Big East contender. Just as there is value in inflated points, there is value in deflated points. That’s what we have on the table here. Underlay.
